De Zerbi to leave Albion after Manchester United match



Head coach to leave by mutual agreement

Brighton & Hove Albion has confirmed that head coach Roberto De Zerbi will leave the club after tomorrow’s final Premier League match of the season against Manchester United at the American Express Stadium.

De Zerbi, who joined Brighton in September 2022, following the departure of Graham Potter to Chelsea, oversaw the club’s highest top flight finish in 2022/23 and led the club to the last 16 of the UEFA Europa League earlier this season.

Chairman, Tony Bloom, said, “Roberto has given us two excellent seasons of service in which he has led the club to new heights, not least our first ever European campaign which will live long in the memory of Albion fans.

“We have mutually agreed to end Roberto’s contract at a time that suits both parties allowing us the earliest opportunity to plan for next season, and Roberto plenty of time to consider his next move and his future."

“I am sure our fans will give Roberto and his staff a wonderful and fully deserved send off at the Amex before, during and after tomorrow’s match.

“In the meantime, I’d like to thank Roberto and his staff for all their hard work in the past two seasons. They all leave our club on good terms and with our very best wishes for the future.”

Roberto de Zerbi said, “I am very sad to be leaving Brighton, but I am very proud of what my players and staff have achieved with the support of everyone at the club and our amazing fans in the past two historical seasons.

“We have agreed to end my time at Brighton so that the club and I can continue to work in the way that suits each of us best, following our own ideas and visions, as well as our work and human values.

“I have really enjoyed an intense and challenging two years working in the Premier League, not least competing in four major competitions this season. Leaving now provides me with time to take a break before deciding on my future plans.”

Andrea Maldera, Ricard Segarra, Marcattilio Marcattilii, Vincenzo Teresa, Agostino Tibaudi, Marcello Quinto and Enrico Venturelli will also leave after tomorrow’s final Premier League match. Club coaches Andrew Crofts and Jack Stern will remain with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Juventus sack Massimiliano Allegri after cup final antics



Massimiliano Allegri has been sacked by Juventus, the club announced Friday, two days after they beat Atalanta in the Coppa Italia final.

Juventus have two games left in Serie A, but Allegri was due to miss them following a two-game suspension for his behavior in the final on Wednesday.

Allegri lost his cool in stoppage time when he grew angry at a decision, ripped off his jacket and earned a red card for sarcastically applauding the referee as Juventus beat Atalanta 1-0.

Juventus said in a statement that Allegri's behavior was not in line with their "values."

"The firing follows certain behaviors during and after the Italian Cup final that the club deemed incompatible with the values of Juventus, and the behavior that those who represent it should have," the club said.

Aside from the suspension, he was also fined $5,400 by the Serie A league judge. Allegri "acted aggressively" and used insulting language and gestures toward the referees, the judge reported.

Italian media reported that Allegri was also aggressive toward journalists after the match.

The Italian football federation is looking into the events during the final.

"We can confirm that an investigation on incident (that) happened during the Coppa Italia Final, in which ... Allegri and Tuttosport newspaper's director Guido Vaciago were involved, is in due course amongst the FIGC's Prosecutor Office," FIGC said in a statement sent to Reuters.

Away from the Italian Cup, Juventus have had a disappointing season. The side are fourth in Serie A and have been banned from European competition due to a false accounting case.

Allegri was in his second stint at Juventus, having rejoined the club in July 2021. He was more successful in his first term at the Bianconeri, winning five straight Serie A titles from 2015 to '19. His only trophy since returning was the Italian Cup won this week, which has become his final match with the team.

Juventus did not immediately announce a replacement for Allegri. There has been speculation that the club wants to hire Thiago Motta from Bologna for next season, which may have led to a rift between Allegri and the club.

Gledao sam utakmicu jučer i Građani najopasniji s udarcima izvan 16m - De Bruyne, Foden, Rodri.


Ne znam u kojem će sustavu igre igrati Engleska i koji sve igrači će ići, ali ne znam kako recimo ovakva jedna ekipa ne bi mogla napraviti neku veliku stvar.

Kroos ponavlja svog sunarodnjaka Lahma. Ista dob(34 godine) i na vrhuncu karijere još uvijek u odličnoj formi.
Golema i fantastična karijera ovog meni ne baš previše dragog Nijemca nakon što smo ga prodali(ne mrzim ga nimalo da se razumijemo) i pošto je stalno kontra Bayerna pričao svake 1-2 godine što nije baš potrebno bilo.

No da je svjetska klasa, prepoznatljiv stil igre, savršene duge i kratke lopte

I ta priča dolazi kraju, ali doslovno ga 3 godine nigdje nije ni bilo.

Mogao je više, ali nije. Njemu se isto malo krivo poklopilo vrijeme u koje je igrao nogomet + krivu reprezentaciju je odabrao za igrati gdje nikad nije bio prvi izbor za 3 pozicije u startnoj postavi. No hajde, osvojio je sve i svašta s 3 različita kluba i reprezentacijom igrao-ne igrao.

Najveći je bio između ljeta 2016. i 2020. Te 4 godine u Bayernu su mu sve u karijeri ako mene pitate, tu je bio svoj, postigao sve i imao sve.

Znaci i Thiago kaci kopacke o klin sa samo 33 godine. Definitivno je bio najbolji dok je bio u Bayernu. I dalje imam osecaj da nije ispunio svoj potencijal. Mada nije ni cudo s obzirom da su ga kroz celu karijeru pratile povrede.

To su jako dobre godine da se razumijemo za ovakve perverzne bogataše od nogometaša zadnjih 15-20 godina.
Nekakva produljenja karijera nakon 35. godine su besmislena ako ne igraju u svojim prvim, matičnim klubovima iz strasti.
Ovo što gledamo s ona 2 čobana koji su se raspali odlascima u Arabiju i USA je cirkus ili recimo Modrića koji uz Pepea i još pokojeg lika je uspio istinski napakostiti prirodi na vrhunskom nivou su ekstremi ko i Gianfranco Zola i Costacurta prije 18-19 godina.

Odlazak u Liverpool je bio promašaj u smislu igranja(nije postao prvotimac i igrao) i trofeja(osvojio je jedino FA Cup). U EPL-u je u 4 sezone odigrao 68 utakmica. Uvjeren sam kako bi kod nas odigrao nekih 100-115 utakmica u ligi u tom periodu. No dobio je što je htio, njegovu volju smo svakako poštovali i rastali smo se kao ljudi obostrano bez jedne jedine zamjerke.

Nadam se da će se to sve završiti jednim pravim debaklom iako iznimno cijenim Flicka i za Thiaga isto imam poštovanja. No riječ je o smradovima koji su trebali igrati 5. ligu ili biti ugašeni, a ne ovako se rugati nogometu zadnjih 10-ak godina.
