Official: FC Bayern has brought in Nils Schmadtke as the club’s new head of scouting. The 35-year-old begins his work with the club today. FC Bayern has reached an agreement with Markus Pilawa, the previous head of scouting, to end his time in the role.
Christoph Freund: "We’re delighted that we’ve managed to bring Nils Schmadtke to FC Bayern. Nils already has plenty of experience in professional football and brings great expertise in scouting. We want to recognise potential players for Bayern as early as possible, and Nils will take on an important role here. In addition, Nils will be responsible for intensive interaction with our FC Bayern Campus. We would like to thank Markus Pilawa for two years of good cooperation. We wish him all the best and success in his future endeavours".
In addition to the new head of scouting Nils Schmadtke, Bayern are bringing in two more scouting experts to support him:
• André Hechelmann (former technical director, sporting director and chief scout at Schalke 04, before that chief scout at Mainz 05)
• Christoph Kresse (former chief scout at Schalke, before that scout in Wolfsburg and Köln).[@altobelli13, @unverhofft]
Bayern's goal is to reach an agreement with Jamal Musiala over a new deal before the end of this year. After the first talks with Musiala and his management, the club is now preparing their financial offer that they will present in the next meeting. If the numbers are right, an agreement could be reached quickly. Musiala is expected to join the category of the top earners with around €20m/year
After they renew with Musiala, Bayern's next goal is to start working on signing Florian Wirtz. The 'hot phase' for the negotiations for Wirtz will begin in spring, with a final decision expected by June. Uli Hoeneß is personally maintaining contact with the Wirtz family. A connection has developed between both sides. Bayern does not expect Wirtz to cost €150m, but rather around the €100m that Hoeneß had mentioned before. The deal, however, does not depend only on money. The decisive part will be to convince Wirtz of a move to Munich. Musiala's renewal could play a role in that
Bayer Leverkusen, meanwhile, would prefer to sell Wirtz abroad. In addition to Bayern, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Arsenal are the clubs with the best chances of signing Wirtz.[@SPORTBILD]

Vincent Kompany has implemented some new internal rules to keep the group together and show his authority:
• Whoever is late before training does not have to pay a fine, but instead has to stay at the training ground at least for as long as the coach (players usually leave at 13:00 after the morning training, while Kompany stays at least until 16:00) - this rule was appreciated by the club's bosses
• Whoever is late to the video sessions is not allowed to attend them. You either be punctual or the session takes place without you (U cemu je poenta da se oskljuci ako zakasni? Tu se treba uvesti neka kazna)
• Kompany sends the matchday squad on the internal Whatsapp group, but not the lineup. If there's a tricky decision involving someone, the coach speaks to the player and informs him beforehand. Leon Goretzka, for example, was informed personally by Kompany that he wouldn't be in the squad on matchday 3.[@altobelli13, @SPORTBILD]
The players like Vincent Kompany's style. They prefer to play aggressive football rather than a 'wait-and-see' cautious approach like under Thomas Tuchel.[@altobelli13, @SPORTBILD]
@SPORTBILD asked Vincent Kompany whether he was planning on maintaining his aggressive, intensive approach throughout the entire season or whether the constant pressing is too exhausting for the players.
His answer is a clear yes: "That's my personality! You have to be ready in your mind - but we wouldn't be the first team to maintain that for an entire season. We can expect that from ourselves."
Kompany wants the maximum from his players - and in order to motivate them, he shows them club records to target: for example the record 91 points from the treble season under Jupp Heynckes or the 17 goals conceded in the entire 2015/16 Bundesliga season under Pep Guardiola.[@altobelli13, @SPORTBILD]

Despite the most recent 3-game winless run, Vincent Kompany enjoys full support from everyone at the club. The team is totally on board with the coach. Even the influential Thomas Müller, despite his low playing time, praised the coach's playing style publicly. Uli Hoeneß is also convinced that things will work out with Kompany. After the tough search for a coach with numerous rejections, Bayern bosses asked Pep Guardiola in detail about Kompany. And as much as Guardiola sometimes praises players excessively in public, he reveals his true opinion internally. And in Kompany’s case it was very positive.[@FrankLinkesch, @kicker]

Bayern are planning with Paul Wanner. However, the player's future next summer is still open. It depends on factors such as whether Bayern will go all in for Florian Wirtz to pair him with Jamal Musiala. Wanner wants to play regular Champions League football next season
Regarding his international future, the clear tendency is towards representing Germany.[@Plettigoal]
First concrete contract talks between Bayern and Manuel Neuer are set to take place this year. A contract extension is conceivable for both sides
Alexander Nübel is still planned as Neuer's successor, either in 2025 or 2026
Nevertheless, Bayern are also keeping an eye on the goalkeeping market and monitoring the situations of Köln goalkeeper Jonas Urbig and Brighton's Bart Verbruggen.[@Plettigoal]

Was den Bayern-Star zum Umdenken bringen könnte:
Wende im Davies-Poker?
Dauer-Thema Alphonso Davies (23) ...
